Travelling 40km further along the Swat River for about 2.5hrs, we reach the town of Kalam. Kalam is an earthly paradise surrounded by natural beauties. From Kalam one gets to visit a number of splendid lakes in tranquil surroundings. The inhabitants here are known as Kohistani who are the original inhabitants and have their own separate language. From Kalam we have excursions to Matiltan (3000m), where we get to see the famous Falaksair Peak (6471m). Mataltan offers numerous picnic spots and great trout fishing and hiking opportunities. Beyond Matiltan at about 23km is the famous Mahodand Lake. Mahodand is said to be one of the most scenic spots on earth and frequented by nature lovers for camping, hiking and trout fishing. Kalam also gives access to the magnificent Ushu valley (2286m), Utrot valley (2225m) and Gabral (2286m) where one gets to see the beautiful and scenic landscape with rivers and streams.
